Research at UCLH

UCLH is famous for its world-class research. We typically have hundreds of studies recruiting at any one time, with some 20,000 of our patients taking part in clinical trials.

This means our patients have access to some of the most cutting-edge treatments and we are able to offer many patients the opportunity to take part in trials.

COVID-19 research

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnUCLH has been key to the research response to COVID-19.

How do I get involved in research at UCLH?

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnSome of our research is experimental medicine, which looks at the causes of disease, how certain treatments work and whether they are safe. Some of our patients have been the first in the world to receive treatments.

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnWe also carry out clinical trials which test the effectiveness of new drugs in a large number of people. This will be to see if a new treatment really is better than current

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnWe have research happening in most disease areas. For instance, studies looking at cancer treatments, neurology surgery, critical care, infection and stroke rehabilitation, to name but a few.

In May 2018 we announced our vision to be a research hospital – not just a hospital that does a lot of research. Read our full report.

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnAs a research hospital, practice and treatment will constantly evolve in the light of experience and new evidence. In addition, staff will channel first-hand experience of patient care straight into the design and running of research studies.

Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnWe will harness the power of data science and artificial intelligence to do this.

This intertwining of clinical practice and research will be critical as we confront Covid-19. We will rapidly translate new evidence and insights into improvements in care, and the experience of our clinical teams caring for Covid-19 patients is feeding rapidly and directly into decisions around Covid-19 research.
