Xổ số thứ tư hàng tuầnWe see children and young people with tinnitus lasting more than five minutes per episode and present for over six months, and /or Hyperacusis (abnormal sensitivity to everyday sounds) and one or more of the following:

  • Symptoms described by the child or young person as being intrusive, distressing, upsetting etc.
  • Symptoms impact adversely upon the child and family’s life in one or more of the following areas:
    • Emotional wellbeing – (emotional and behavioural changes reported by the child or parents in response to tinnitus/Hyperacusis (e.g. shows sigs of anxiety, or emotional distress in relation to symptoms)
    • Health – sleep difficulties, headaches, dizziness
    • Education – symptoms interfere with educational performance  (e.g. listening and concentration difficulties in school, avoidance of playground and other noisy environments, difficult hearing the teacher in class)
    • Social – avoidance or difficulties with social situations e.g. mixing with friends, going to parties, family outings, the cinema.

Medical, audiological, functional assessment of hearing and listening, assessment of child and family’s coping strategies.

  • Investigation and management of any medical condition identified
  • Advice to patients and school about use of good hearing tactics
  • Psychological intervention appropriate for the needs identified.

  • Consultant paediatricians
  • Audiovestibular physicians
  • ENT surgeons
